A note from the Editor's Since World War I, the United States has assumed the position of "World Police". This position has come with positive and negative consequences. The main purpose of this magazine is to explore those pros and cons. Then after exploration coming to an individual conclusion on whether or not the U.S should be the world police or if there should be one at all. Our hope is that all who read this magazine will come to realize the importance of this issue.

The focus of this magazine is based on a broad viewpoint of the U.S and its's policing, which involve statistics and history of the "World Police". There are many other more specific issues within which we will discuss. Many are found outside the group report and in our profiles, second genre papers and visual translations.
Each member of our group wrote a profile on a person relative to the U.S being the world police and then we wrote either a memoir or a review, also based on the subject. Jacob chose to write his profile on Gareth Anderson, a soldier in the U.S Army. Gareth was chosen not only because Jacob knew him personally but, because he had experienced the hardships and benefits of being employed in the army first hand. The closest Jacob has ever been to experiencing these same things first hand was on 9/11/2001. Thus he wrote his memoir on the experiences he felt on that day, which he showed through his visual translation.
Jessica wrote her profile on Jordan Ewell. She chose him because she wanted to tell his story about being a Marine overseas during a time of war. She also created a visual of this paper. For her second genre paper, she watched Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and wrote a review. This movie showed consequences, good and bad, that terrorist attacks could have on a family.
Kerri decided to write her profile on Norman Hardinger, her great uncle who had past away from agent orange exposure, which he came in contact with during his service in the army. She wrote a review on a movie called Seal Team Six. This movie showed a lot of aspects of war that were talked about in the group report. She also did a visual translation that included key words collaged from the group report.
Chris wrote his profile on one of his childhood friends Gayana Grigoryan, who escaped ethnic cleansing in Azerbaijan, Baku in 1988. He also wrote a review on the movie Captain Phillips, which is base on true events of a American cargo ship being hijacked by Somali pirates and them kidnapping the Captain of the ship. Which then made the U.S. Navy send there elite team Seal Team 6 to handle the situation and make sure Captain Phillips is saved. He also did a comic strip of Captain Phillips for his visual translation.
Our group learned that, in order to do a good job in a group report, you must first be organized and second be passionate about the subject you are covering. When this two things are accomplished, a group report can become easier than doing something by yourself, even if you cannot have everything exactly how you want it.
Overall, our magazine has turned out to be a success! It was not an easy task but we managed to make the site both, informative and easy to maneuver throughout. Our design is not the most eye-popping, but we believe the effects to make the page prettier would, ultimately, take away from the actual information given. The problems with the magazine did not come with the magazine as a whole. The main obstacle we ran into was organizing our group report. To future groups exploring our magazine for ideas, remember, organization is key to be successful and getting along with your group. You also need to travel outside the group for different perspectives and ideas.
Thank you for browsing our magazine, enjoy!
